Description
Killable Fish is a lightweight Subnautica 2 mod that lets marine life be damaged and killed using existing in-game tools.
This is not meant to turn Subnautica 2 into a full combat overhaul. The goal is simple: if a creature can attack you, you should have some basic way to defend yourself using tools that already exist in the game.
This is my first mod, so the scope is intentionally small and focused. Co-op is unsupported and being worked on currently.
Main Features
Existing tools can damage fish.
Fish can play death reactions or death animations.
Lightweight behavior change, not a weapon overhaul.
Designed to feel simple, intuitive, and natural during normal gameplay.
As it stands, fish will respawn after leaving the area and returning. For now this is intended and may evolve over time to an extended respawn time frame as the mod matures.
Damage Values
The Survival Tool hit deals 25 damage.
The Sonic Resonator blast deals 125 damage.
The Sonic Resonator V2 ranged bubble explosion deals 250 damage.

To confirm the mod loaded, open:

Search for:
[KillableFish]
If the mod loaded, you should see lines like “Loaded version ...” and hook registration messages.
Xbox / Game Pass
Game Pass paths differ and are not fully tested. If using a Game Pass build, install UE4SS for that version first, then place KillableFish in the Game Pass UE4SS Mods folder, usually near:
Content Subnautica2 Binaries WinGDK ue4ss Mods
Also confirm KillableFish is enabled in that install’s mods.txt:
KillableFish : 1
Linux / Steam Deck
Linux is untested by me. UE4SS users may need Steam launch options such as:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dwmapi=n,b" %command%
Compatibility
Do not run this together with other fish/fauna killing or combat-overhaul mods unless you are testing conflicts. If the mod does not work, test with only UE4SS and KillableFish installed first.
```
Known Issues
- Co-op is unsupported first priority currently.
- FourEye is currently unsupported. Will address in future updates.
- Early Access updates may break the mod.
Notes
This mod does not add new weapons, new combat systems, or major gameplay changes. It only gives existing tools damage behavior against fish and allows fish to react accordingly.
