Tired of pinging your Scanner Station, swimming 80 meters, and realizing the closest copper was actually behind a rock the whole time? Scanner Assist draws the resources your station already detects directly on your HUD — as live icons that follow the actual nodes through the wor

What it does
• Your station's filter, on your screen. Whatever resources your Scanner Station is set to find, you see — as icons floating over the real nodes, updated every frame as you move and turn.[/*]
• Two modes, one key. Press F9 to cycle:
• Nearest — shows the 3 closest hits (configurable 1–5). Great for focused farming runs when you just want to know "where's the next one."[/*]
• All — shows everything in range, up to 25 markers at a time. Great for surveying a new biome.[/*]
• Off — markers hidden, scanning paused.[/*]
[/*]
• Hover to identify. Move your reticle near a marker and it grows slightly and shows the resource name + distance in meters.[/*]
• Distance-aware sizing. Far markers shrink so a quartz field doesn't turn your screen into a wall of icons.[/*]
• Plays nice with the game UI. The pause menu, inventory, and the scanner station screen all properly cover the markers — they don't bleed through menus.[/*]
How it works (briefly)
The mod reads your Scanner Station's current filter and range, then draws its own HUD overlay for matching resources. Nothing is written to your save file. Switching modes, swapping filters, or reloading the game starts completely clean.
If you have more than one station deployed with different filters, all of them are honored — each station only authorizes the resources it is configured for, within its range.
Settings (via SN2ModSettings)
If you have the SN2ModSettings mod installed, an in-game options panel appears with:
• Enabled — master on/off.[/*]
• Mode — Off / Nearest / All.[/*]
• NearestCount — how many closest markers to show in Nearest mode (1–5, default 3).[/*]
• UseNativeMarker — swap the resource-icon markers for the game's native teal ping ring style.[/*]
• Debug — verbose console logging.[/*]
Without SN2ModSettings the mod still works fine — it just uses defaults (Nearest mode, 3 markers).
Hotkeys:
• F9 — cycle Off → Nearest → All[/*]
• F10 — toggle debug overlay[/*]
Requirements
• UE4SS — required.[/*]
• SN2ModSettings — optional but recommended for the in-game settings panel.[/*]
Installation
• Install UE4SS for Subnautica 2 if you haven't already.[/*]
• Extract the archive into Subnautica2 Binaries Win64 ue4ss Mods — you should end up with a folder named _ScannerAssistCXX alongside your other mods.[/*]
• Launch the game. A Scanner Station is required for anything to appear (the mod follows what your station can see).[/*]
• Upgrading from 1.x? Delete the old Mods ScannerAssist folder first. v2 is a full rewrite with a new folder name — they will not conflict, but the old one does nothing useful.[/*]
Notes for v1 users
v2 is a ground-up rewrite. The big change is how markers are drawn — v1 placed real game beacons (which is why they appeared in your compass and beacon list); v2 draws its own HUD overlay instead.
What you gain:
• Smooth per-frame tracking instead of snapping every quarter second.[/*]
• No phantom markers, no duplicates, no "one stuck after filter change" — there's nothing persisted to leak.[/*]
• Far fewer crashes on map travel and game loads.[/*]
• Mined deposits disappear instantly instead of waiting for the next rescan.[/*]
What you give up:
• No compass entry or beacon-list line — markers are HUD-only.[/*]
• No "clear markers" key (nothing to clear; switching modes wipes the overlay automatically).[/*]
• F9 / F10 are currently hard-coded (rebindable keys are on the roadmap).[/*]
• Old settings don't migrate — re-set your preferences once after install.[/*]
Compatibility
Should play nicely with any other UE4SS mod. The HUD overlay sits below the game's UI layer, so menus and inventory always render on top. The mod doesn't touch save files.
Troubleshooting
• No markers at all? Deploy a Scanner Station and make sure it's actively scanning for something. The mod follows your station — no station, no markers.[/*]
• Markers in the wrong place? Make sure you're on the latest UE4SS. The mod uses standard engine queries for position; if something is offset, that usually means a stale install.[/*]
• Want more/fewer "Nearest" markers? Install SN2ModSettings and adjust NearestCount (1–5).[/*]
